Welcome Back!!
Working with students at The Prentice School makes me happy to come to work each day. This is my 5th year of teaching here at Prentice, and it just keeps getting better and better! This year, I am teaching 7th and 8th grade science. I'm excited to teach the 8th grade science curriculum because it covers some of my favorite science topics. I also moved out of the science lab and into room 303, and I'm glad to be in the heart of the junior high wing. We will still make use of the science lab for...you guessed it... labs.
In my free time, I love to surf, do yoga, and dance...especially Salsa. I also enjoy a variety of outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, mountain biking, and relaxing. I enjoy spending time with my 17-year-old son, too!
I earned my Bachelor of Science and Masters in Teaching degrees from Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. I have two single subject credentials in biology and chemistry.
Teaching Philosophy
I strive to nurture confidence and a love for learning in my students by maintaining high standards, encouraging mutual respect, and displaying a sense of humor. Students must feel safe to take risks within their learning environment. All students, but especially students with learning differences, must be guided in understanding the strengths they can rely on and the weaknesses through which they must navigate. It's an honor to work with the students at The Prentice School; I love getting to know and understand the unique qualities of my students.
Please explore the class pages to see what is happening in each of my classes.
