Prentice Resource Center
Beyond the Classroom
We serve as a resource for students and their families through early intervention, assessment, support services, current information and research, and/or recommendations for alternative educational avenues.
Complete Assessment Facility
Prentice provides assessment and testing on-site at affordable rates. Grade level screenings are available and administered by a qualified examiner. The screening, a series of language arts related tasks, provides information on a student’s strong and weak learning channels – visual, auditory, and/or kinesthetic. We suggest you contact the school for further detailed information about available testing.
Complete Tutoring Center
As a service to the community and to our students, Prentice offers individual tutoring in all subjects for all ages for both Prentice and non-Prentice students. Tutoring takes place before and after school, either on or off-site, or in your home.
Life-skills Training
Qualified staff help build all students’ socialization skills and self-esteem through group activities and/or cognitive coaching.
Occupational Therapy
A licensed occupational therapist is available as an outside service, to work with students who struggle with gross and fine motor skills or have sensory processing issues.
Speech & Language Resources
Small-group and individual speech and language therapy with a speech pathologist are available.
Summer School
Every year Prentice offers a Slingerland Summer School, which focuses on the Slingerland Approach to Language Arts and instructs in reading, handwriting, spelling, and oral and written language.
Slingerland Training
Slingerland training, in conjunction with the Slingerland Institute and the University of San Diego, is available during the summer school for non-Prentice professionals.
“New” Assistive Technology
An assistive technology specialist is on staff at the school to ascertain the specific AT needs of individual students. An “assistive technology” device is any item, piece of equipment, computer software, or product system whether acquired commercially or off the shelf, modified, or customized that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of a child with a learning disability. Available to non-Prentice families in Summer 2010.
